When to Hire a Wedding Planner

You’ve decided you want some wedding planning assistance, whether that’s a full-service wedding planning and design company, a partial planning company or wedding management/month-of coordination. There is an ideal time to reach out and get started with a wedding planner that is driven by how much assistance your looking for.

FULL-PLANNING AND DESIGN SERVICES (1-2 years before)

If you’re looking to hire a full-service wedding planner, you should understand that it takes time to effectively plan, consider and design a wedding or wedding weekend. The sooner you can hire a planner, the better. Sourcing a list of vendors that not only mesh with your personalities, preferences and aesthetics (and price point!) who are available benefits from time.

Ideally, you’re hiring a wedding planner 1-2 years before your ideal wedding date. You may have found your perfect venue or need some help with that step, a planner is certainly beneficial to the venue search process, they can make sure you’re looking at venues that fit your overall expectations and preferences and that they are comfortably within your budget.

FOR PARTIAL PLANNING (1 year+)

Maybe you’re confident in doing some of the leg-work yourself but you’d like some expert guidance from early on in the process. Maybe you’ve booked a venue but need help with other vendors. Typically, a partial-planning couple comes to us on 6 months to a year in advance to start our monthly meetings to keep you on track.

FOR WEDDING MANAGEMENT OR “DAY-OF”

We don’t book this package more than 6 months in advance! If there is a day-of coordinator that you really want to book, book them as soon as you can. Wedding planners that solely do “day-of” coordination book up about a year in advance. Because we focus on full-planning and design, we don’t take on these packages until closer until the wedding. Our wedding management service starts 6 weeks in advance of your wedding.
